GES seeks a Site Lead with strong people management skills to lead our Houston Operations and spearhead growth and diversification.
This position is based in our Houston area Stafford, TX office, and responsibilities include overseeing approximately 10 employees that consist of: Administrative Support staff, Field Technicians, Geologists, Environmental Scientists, and Project Managers.
Our selected candidate must possess the skills necessary for proven success in business development, client satisfaction,operations management and growth, personnel management, technical excellence, and the support and execution of all corporate programs, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Oversees the Stafford, TX office's operational resource needs and corresponding assignments, which includes:
Reviewing and ensuring overall project financial profitability and performance.
Leading weekly project team meetings to review current and future projects, managing resource allocation, resolving project and/or employee issues, and conducting periodic performance reviews.
Managing client interaction and handling problem resolution.
First point of contact for Senior Operations Manager regarding staff and project status, updates, and action items.
Collaborating with other Operations Managers / Site Leads in the GES West/Southwest Region.
Develops strategies to generate new business opportunities and service growth within the petroleum, industrial and energy/utilities market sectors, which includes:
Representing GES’ Gulf Coast area operations at industry related conferences, exhibitions, associations, and functions.
Participating in all aspects of bid and proposal preparation, working closely with GES' technical leads.
Oversees a portfolio of high-level, diverse environmental projects, including petroleum, industrial, and commercial sites, which includes:
Providing senior project oversight and expert technical input on complex projects, which includes.
Reviewing and approving project related documents and deliverables.
Evaluating subsurface characteristics for assessment and remediation projects, remedial system design, and regulatory negotiations.
Ensuring compliance with all applicable policies and procedures (Corporate, HR, project execution, HSSE, Quality, etc.).
A Bachelor's degree or higher in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related scientific major.
15+ years of direct environmental consulting experience in Texas. Experience should include: investigation, reporting, remediation, and management of diverse project types, or handling large volumes of a similar type work.
Experience managing and overseeing office or group operations in an environmental consulting office; experience with multiple office locations is preferred.
Business development experience and a strong network within Texas' environmental market (industrial, petroleum, and energy/utilities, etc.) that can be leveraged to develop additional business.
Strong background in building an organizational structure, business processes/functions, and financials.
Must have excellent employee relations skills, and be able to identify, address, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification in Texas is highly desired; additional state PG or PE certifications are a plus.
Experience with Underground Storage Tanks (UST & LUST), and working knowledge of Texas’ environmental regulations are required.
Knowledge of TCEQ and RRC regulatory programs (specifically TRRP) and RCRA are highly preferred.
OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is required.
Experience with LPS or a behavior based health & safety program is a plus.
Must possess excellent communication, teamwork, analytical, organizational, technical writing, and client service skills.
Drug/Alcohol Screening and a Background Check are required.
