Intertek's Transportation Technologies business serves a number of consumer and commercial manufacturing industries, including: automotive, electric vehicles, rail, aerospace, marine and construction. Conducts analysis and experimentation to generate data and/or provide a basis for new testing processes. Serves as External Customer Advocate for assigned related Chemistry Lab issues. Proficient as Method Technical Leader for designated group of test methods. Provides technical support and leadership for company ASTM/Industry activity and provides data review for reports to all customers. Supervises support personnel.


• External Customer Advocate:

  • Reviews status information to in ensure appropriate information is being delivered.

  • Reviews critical report data for accuracy before delivery.

  • Provides feedback to manager/supervisor relative to resource needs for regular and special requests of the customer.

• Method Technical Leader:

  • Ensures that all testing as defined by Technical Leadership Grid is compliant with applicable industry standards.

  • Reviews internal documents for test procedures and updates as necessary.

  • Performs analysis of Process Flow in test areas to continuously improve test efficiency.

  • Provides feedback to the technician supervisor relative to best practices of process flow and the relative needs for personnel based on those best practices.

  • Reviews QC data for trends and reports QC information summaries to manager for customer distribution.

  • Ultimately responsible for test quality for testing as listed on the Technical Leadership Grid.

• ASTM/Industry Activity:

  • Attends/Leads industry meetings relative to any testing performed in the lab as required.

  • Reviews industry data from Crosschecks, round robins, target matrices, TMC calibration for information about relative severity of our testing.

• Data Review:

  • Validates interim and final data reports for all external customers as necessary.

  • Reviews raw data for relevant tests questioned by any customer.

  • Follows up on customer questions relative to data quality on relevant test methods and feeds information back to appropriate contact.

• Other Duties as assigned by supervisor.

• Must comply with departmental and company ISO procedures.


• Desire 15 years of experience in an analytical petroleum laboratory with similar testing requirements and instrumentation.


• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. BS is preferred. Will accept BA with additional coursework for BS.


• Must be proficient in data analysis from testing. Prior knowledge and experience with computer systems based on Windows operating systems is desired.
