Role Summary:

The North America Geoscience and Petroleum Engineering (GPE) group aligns their business to integrate with their Operations Geomarket organization. In general, the integration is across all product lines with a strong emphasis on Wireline and Logging While Drilling (LWD).

The GPE North America Chief Engineering Lead position is is located within the North America organization and reports to the Director of GPE North America. The role works closely with its GPE Lead peers in Petrophysics, G&G, Engineering, Cased Hole and Real Time to develop and grow the Geomarket’s business. In addition, the GPE North America Chief Engineering Lead has a close relationship to the peers in Operations (Product Line) and Headquarters supporting the application of new technologies to solve customer challenges.

A high degree of technical engineering knowledge is required to become a proactive partner of the Geomarket’s multiple product line businesses while satisfying BHGE’s clients with technology solutions.

The successful candidate will be a discipline expert, providing reservoir engineering input to clients on multi-disciplinary projects, from frontier exploration through discovery appraisal to field development and production. The candidate will present data, interpretations and reports to clients either individually or as part of the larger project team. The candidate will also advise clients on production, completions, testing, design studies, and provide solutions to client needs. He or she provides subsurface support to the well construction and production operation process

On occasion, The GPE North America Chief Engineering Lead may develop new solutions, set quality guidelines, mentor and is able to quality control the work of others. The Engineering Lead role supports business development and technical sales efforts. The successful candidate will exhibit a high level of professional and personal integrity, ethics, and honesty coupled with flexibility, sensitivity and openness in approach and work style.

This challenging role is situated in a market place that ranges from a transactional, fast turn-around land business, to high-value detail-oriented offshore operations. Within that environment the role displays a high degree of competency from unconventional to offshore resources.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Petroleum and Reservoir Engineering knowledge of North American and Caribbean basins. Advantage if worked with unconventional reservoirs, for example as displayed in Shale Gas or Heavy Oil.

  • Understanding of Wireline or LWD log data in addition to understanding well completion and production operations.

  • Expert knowledge of new formation evaluation technologies in the O&G Industry.

  • Uses industry standard software tools to create interpretations or answer products. Significant knowledge of evaluation acquisition tools and services used in the industry. Ability to create interpretations and form opinions from complex data sets.

  • Expert knowledge within his/her discipline and the ability to converse at a strategic planning level with others.

  • Proficient in managing and mentoring staff and/or projects. Facilitates collaboration amongst others and brings people together across boundaries to achieve results as a team.

  • Operator experience or significant experience working with Operators and understanding their requirements. Demonstrates an ability to understand the key operating levels of the oil and gas industry.

  • Liaises and communicates with clients, as a subject matter expert, to advise them on reservoir and production engineering matters and optimal data acquisition programs. Develops strong professional relationships with current and potential clients, with a view of establishing BHGE as the preferred resource for their needs.

  • Has awareness or experience with reserve certification process and SPE PRMS rules.

  • Involves him/herself in the knowledge community through professional societies and forums to understand industry directions as well as the suitability of BHGE’s measurements, products and services.

  • Demonstrates compliance to company policies, for the entire team, including HSE compliance.

  • Ability to travel 20-30% of time.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 12+ years of industry experience in Reservoir Engineering.

  • Degree qualified. Masters in an Engineering degree a minimum.

  • Possesses a clear understanding of the oil & gas upstream value chain and client drivers

  • Worked in field operations for an operator and oilfield services.

  • Is able to create and quality control end-user deliverables

  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to build rapport and network across complex organizations and disciplines

  • Has managed diverse and multi-cultural teams

  • Has the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Has the ability to negotiate towards win-win situations and find progressing opportunities.

  • Is able to travel about 20-30% of time
