Job Title: Principal Tech Professional – Technical Services
Job Location: 3000 N. Sam Houston Parkway East, Houston, TX 77032
Duties: Providing mechanical expertise on new tools to be designed, based on its target application and operating environment; ensuring that tools are mechanically compatible/suitable with existing downhole operations, rig operations and it is prepared to meet market needs; providing reliability feedback on the mechanical design, including wear/tear and downhole vibration analysis; being able to service tools in the field, when needed, and providing training and advice to R&M technicians; providing application expertise and any engineering technical data to business development, application engineering, training, external customers and operations to support product and service applications globally; providing operational and practical perspectives to project development and prioritization, as a member of the product service line project review team; establishing operational performance expectations or specifications; interfacing with operations/external customers on special development projects; incorporating reliability; formally communicating in situations involving: cautions and/or warnings, design/product/service changes, required field action, interim procedures and reference information using a technology bulletin; maintaining Operational Manuals; supervising the initial application (field tests) of new products or services or tests and evaluates operational software products releases from Software Technology resources; developing and presenting technical information in seminar and classroom environments; revising and referring users to appropriate technical content of product and services web pages ; utilizing extensive knowledge of formation evaluation, logging while drilling, telemetry, drilling operations as well as in-depth knowledge of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and radioactive materials applied to drilling technology combined with certification to handle and supervise radioactive materials; and responding to questions submitted to the knowledge base system and developing relevant articles to publish. Working with: Automated decoding data acquisition software, downhole telemetry systems, formation fluid and pressure sampling, high Pressure and high temperature LWD tools; Reservoir Navigation Tools; surveying tools; Drilling Rotary Steerables.
Requirements: Requires a Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or related and 2 years of experience in the job offered or 2 years of related experience in offshore and onshore drilling rigs internationally, including formation evaluation and reservoir navigation applications
In addition, must have 2 years of experience with the following:
Interpreting and analyzing LWD Formation and Drilling Well Logs (vibration modes and mitigation actions, signs of surge/swab and possible kicks), properties of the formation being logged/drilled (porosity, permeability, resistivity, hydrocarbon content, water saturation, lithology, among others), and interpret Pressure x Time logs generated upon taking a Formation Pressure point measurement.
Performing the process of transmitting well/formation data to surface in Real-Time through Mud Pulses and/or Electromagnetic waves, as well as, decoding the said data on surface.
Utilizing Azimuthal LWD Tools to be used for reservoir navigation purposes: Density; Natural Gamma Ray; Acoustic; Shallow and Deep Measurement Electromagnetic Wave Propagation Tools, the latter also used for reservoir mapping and identification of reservoir water zones and water fronts produced by multiple water injector wells, ultimately influencing in mature fields development strategy and maximizing petroleum production in aging fields.
Special Requirements: Up to 50% travel required to various client locations.
