We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of GIS Surveyor Specialist within our Real Estate group based in Houston, Texas . Essential Duties Include: • Responsible to provide mapping, drafting and graphics support to meet the business objectives of Worldwide Real Estate’s business units. Prepare complete and accurate maps (in Adobe Acrobat, ESRI ArcGIS, AutoCAD or MicroStation, COGO and Google Earth) drawings, charts, exhibits, plats and artwork integrating: mapping, drafting and graphic techniques and procedures with the operation and application of mapping (GIS), computer–aided design (CAD) and other specialized software. • Process data and graphics requests, anticipate information needs and present finished product in a standardized format. Create templates to ensure completed project data is presented in a consistent format. • Responsible to provide mapping, drafting and graphics support to meet the business objectives of Worldwide Real Estate’s business units. • Guide the business unit through all phases of a project; scoping, programming, schematic design, design development, bidding (if required) and the finished product. • Develop, manage and execute project plans, schedules and budgets for all assigned projects. • Create and maintain an open land record management system to include a company mapping system. • Peruse and interpret legal documents to update the company mapping system. • Compiling data and implementing GIS-based solutions to create land records maps. • Work with IT Data Management and GIS staff to standardize this position’s activities with current and future IT corporate standards. • Obtain and interpret legal documents as they pertain to assigned tasks. • When an outside surveyor is required, manage all coordination between the outside surveyor and the company. • Visit contracted projects to ensure the company is receiving what has been bargained for. • Monitor and control projects keeping all stakeholders and company management informed. • Qualify, create, maintain and establish Master Service Agreements with applicable consultants and vendors allowing a minimum of three consultants or vendors to competitively bid on any required contract. • At all times, represent OPC in a professional and ethical manner. • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Worldwide Real Estate. • BA / BS in Land Survey, Photogrammetry, Geography, Geoscience, GIS, related geospatial or scientific field. • Minimum of 5 years of experience in creating and maintaining land records in a geographic information system using Adobe Acrobat, ESRI ArcGIS, AutoCAD or MicroStation, COGO, Google Earth and KMZ files. • Operating knowledge of Office Productivity tools (Word, Excel & PowerPoint). • Experience with working with different coordinate systems, map projections and datums. • Experience with coordinating or engaging survey crews and using the field data to produce work product. • Capable of acting independently and taking initiative. • Detail oriented and organized: create metadata and process documentation. • Positive attitude, ability to work around obstacles and always maintains a professional disposition. • Ability to listen to issues, define requirements, develop a solution and execute the most cost effective plan to resolve the business concern. • Ability to work on multiple projects. • Willingness to travel, as required. • Extensive knowledge with deeds, easements, property rights and the ability to obtain and maintain the correct documentation from a Register of Deeds.
Additional Desired Qualifications: • Current Land Survey License. • Experience with ESRI’s parcel fabric solution. • GISP certification. • Experience in working in a fast paced corporate environment with multiple projects and urgent delivery dates.
