Dow Chemical Metallurgical Engineering Specialist in Deer Park, Texas
The Dow Chemical Company currently has an opening for a Metallurgical Engineering Specialist role to be located at the Deer Park, TX Site. The Metallurgical Engineering Specialist will provide materials of construction, technical engineering expertise for manufacturing, maintenance, and engineering. Responsibilities will include troubleshooting and proposing long-term solutions for metallurgy-related problems experienced at the plant level. Areas of expertise could include corrosion of metals; failure analysis; welding; fabrication; Risk Based Inspection and fitness-for-service.
Key responsibilities include:
Ensuring alignment of site metallurgical engineering discipline with global strategies, work processes, and supporting implementation of Most Effective Technology (MET).
Serving as a technical resource in metallurgical engineering - providing materials selection, reviewing/approving fabrication and welding procedures, and troubleshooting issues.
Identifying and participating in the prioritization of technology improvement related to metallurgy and process containment issues.
Participates in the implementation of improvement projects.
Networks broadly within the Maintenance, Engineering, and Production organizations.
Support Risk Based Mechanical Integrity (RBMI) corrosion studies.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Minimum of five (5) years of metallurgical-application engineering experience in one of the following areas is preferred: Chemical Processing or Oil/Petroleum Refinery environment.
Working knowledge of the following is preferred, but not required:
Material selection (metals)
Non-destructive evaluation techniques
ASME/ANSI and A.P.I. codes for vessels and tank construction
Zirconium usage and fabrication.
Organization and planning skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Committed to Environmental, Health and Safety
Bachelors Degree of Science is required.
Materials Science or Metallurgical Engineering is preferred.
